Our Precast frame solution for the Ballinteer Educate Together National School is a finalist in the “Main Award” category this Saturday 27th April at the 41st Irish Concrete Society Awards. The new school is a two-storey building totalling approximately 4,426 sqm of accommodation including 16 mainstream classrooms, a two-base Autism centre, along with ancillary teacher and pupil facilities. The construction project also included a separate 1,207 sqm two-storey indoor sports hall. The overall construction project was delivered by main contractor BAM under the Department of Education’s School Building Programme. BAM choose Concast to provide a total Precast frame solution for the new school and separate indoor sports facility. Concast’s cross wall school frame solution was designed in-house utilising 3D modelling. Individual Precast elements included; beams; columns; capping slabs; flooring; stair flights and landings; along with wall panels and wall beams. The Precast indoor sports hall frame solution included; bespoke 9 m tall columns with an integral corbel detail to support roof trusses; 200 mm thick full height wall panels between columns to the perimeter of the building; and 200 mm internal wall panels creating storage and changing rooms.
